Project Burbank
I worked on various systems while working as a gameplay engineer on Burbank. The items listed below are some key contributions I made to the project.
Interaction System & Character AI
Interaction System overhaul with new character behavior.
Experimental Multiplayer Mode
An exploration of Burbank as a couch co-op game. Using Mongoose to spin up a web server manager and a user facing client UI to ingest player text input.
Core UI Screens & Elements
Multiple UI screens based on UX is Fine produced mockups. Animated some key notifications and created complex screens with multiple functionalities that were used extensively throughout the game.
Doorways
Implemented a character entrance and exit subsystem to manage introduction sequences for characters as well as outros within a scene.
Character Confessional
Created a custom gamemode that was a core mechanic in Burbank. Players were able to directly interact with characters in game taking custom input and producing responses with and without voice. Later transitioned this mode to use Flow Graph for development ease.
I won't go into detail due to confidentiality on how this system works as it heavily interacts with proprietary software.
